koto living at North Uist
On the remote and wild Hebridean isle of North Uist, Koto Living designed the interiors of Koto House - a four-bedroom prefabricated home that sits in harmony with its dramatic surroundings.
The design frames sweeping views of the landscape from the living spaces and bedrooms, allowing light and nature to shape the experience of the modular home. Natural textures and materials forge a connection to the rugged beauty beyond, while refined details bring warmth and comfort.
Visually, Burnt larch cladding, large glazing, timber floors, and natural stone feature throughout, whilst organic fabrics provide tactile textures. Central to the choice of materiality used to craft the design was the aim to merge Koto House with its natural environment.
The handcrafted kitchen, with its dark natural fittings, offers a striking centrepiece crafted with precision and care. Artisan bathroom suites, featuring countertop basins and freestanding tubs, provide moments of quiet luxury where residents can recharge while immersed in the island’s breathtaking panoramas.
