koto living MIDDLE BARN
The new gym forms the physical heart of Phase Two: a refined, atmospheric space crafted to encourage both energy and restoration. Dark timber joinery, wooden slatted ceilings and soft, controlled lighting create a cocoon-like environment that feels grounding. Custom built-in storage keeps weights, mats and equipment neatly integrated into the room, preserving visual calm and supporting effortless daily rituals. Floor-to-ceiling openings frame the surrounding landscape, allowing movement to align with the quiet backdrop of the countryside. Whether for strength training, cardio or stretching, the gym offers a dedicated retreat designed for clarity of mind and body.
Next to the gym sits a serene workspace designed for deep concentration and productivity. Overhead skylights draw soft daylight into the room, settling gently across the polished concrete floors and textured walls, while a long built-in desk and open shelving introduce order and tactility. Together, these elements establish a workspace that supports clarity and creative flow; a quiet counterpoint to the high-energy programmes of the gym.
On the opposite side of the building, the studio is designed for artistic flow. Generous worktops and flexible furniture create a space that supports both detailed craft and expansive layout work. Soft natural textures, warm timber detailing and brass accents give the space a gentle luminosity. With doors that open directly to the terrace, the studio can expand outdoors during warmer months for creative work surrounded by nature.
The terrace forms a natural bridge between the indoors and the landscape. Textured plaster, timber detailing, soft lighting and relaxed seating shape a quiet place to unwind after a workout, enjoy the morning sun or work outdoors in connection with the surrounding valley.
