Koto Design - Stories about our award winning architecture.

The Koto blog features the latest in modern design and architecture with a focus on small buildings and cabin design.

New beginnings

As we all welcome 2022 with open arms, we look back on 2021 as a year of mixed emotions, filled by challenges but countered by positive actions. This New Year is a perfect time to consciously reflect on what has been; the lessons learned, and to visualise the brilliant possibilities that the next twelve months may bring.

Beginning with our net-zero homes, we’ve created a round-up of the key themes taken from the past year which continue to evolve and inspire our designs each day.

Net-zero prefabricated homes.

Our aesthetically unique designed Koto homes provide the perfect balance between quiet luxury and a green footprint on the environment in harmony with nature. During 2021, we progressed with a number of beautiful net-zero home projects and ended the year celebrating the launch of the extraordinary off-the-shelf Sora House and the Cotswolds UK based Falcon House.

It fills us with an immense sense of gratitude to work alongside like-minded clients who choose Koto as their architects to deliver conscious and personal structures which will be used to live in and enjoy for many years to come. We look forward to sharing more updates on our upcoming exciting private and commercial house projects in the UK, Europe and the USA as they develop in 2022.

Working from home continued.

The pandemic has accelerated existing future of work trends with a significant portion of the workforce continuing to work from home in 2022. As company work from home policies have become further entrenched, and in many cases prioritised, there has been a steady increase in people building garden cabins and out houses as offices to ensure separation between home and work life.

The unusual Koto Sculpture Cabin and Home Office designs provide truly inspiring and sustainable remote spaces that enhance the landscape, giving people privacy alongside direct access to nature.

Eco estates and developments.

2020 and 2021 saw the uprising trend in building prefabricated cabins which help to transform sustainable business expansion plans into reality. Between holiday resorts and wedding venues, Koto are presently engaged with a number of exciting multiple module rollout projects for estates, developments and hospitality projects to be delivered in 2022 in the UK, Europe and beyond.

From concept to delivery, our aim is to build beautiful, planet-kind designs without compromising on style.

Prefabricated hotels and retreats.

With the increase in popularity towards innovative and sustainable design, modular prefabricated construction is becoming the method of choice for the hospitality industry.

Catering to tourists’ unyielding desire for eco-friendly vacations has initiated many chains and retreats across the world to embrace and invest in sustainable modular hotels

Koto are engaged with a number of hotel and spa projects in the UK and beyond, and are perfectly equipped to transcend your sustainable hospitality dreams into reality.

Sustainable interior design.

We have spent much more time than usual in our homes over the past couple of years as they have become a space to work, sleep, and play due to the pandemic. Because of this, we expect the warm, cosy and minimalist simple living thread to continue influencing interior design projects throughout 2022.

“Seamlessly blending luxury interior design with biophilic living, our interiors are curated to realise beautiful spaces. Spaces that enhance our daily life and set the stage to shape our stories.”
