Spring: The time of nature’s revival

“There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature - the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.” - Rachel Carson

The season of spring is a much welcomed period of regeneration, renewal and joy! Signified beautifully by blooming nature and the reappearance of wildlife; seeing, feeling, and hearing uplifting changes to the landscape as spring succeeds winter is an invigorating experience for our senses.

Cultures around the world celebrate the emergence of spring. Japan enjoys the ancient tradition of Hanami, an annual viewing of cherry trees blossoming. In Japan, the Cherry, or 'Sakura' tree is representative of new beginnings and revival, as well as a symbol of the transience of life.

By incorporating biophilic design in each Koto build, users are able to connect with nature throughout the cyclic passing of seasons. The distinctive vast glazing featured in Koto designs allows natural light to flow through interior living areas whilst exposing views of the surrounding scenery.

Below, we have selected some of our luxury off-the-shelf garden and holiday cabins currently available in the UK and European markets - perfect for both immersing in the spring sunshine and sheltering from April’s showers.

Chelsea Cabin.

Designed to exhibit at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show - in partnership with Garden Club London and Hamptons - the Chelsea is our latest garden cabin to be added to the Koto portfolio.

The Chelsea cabin has a charred timber exterior which draws from our Japanese design influence. Internally, a rich interior colour palette elevates the architectural space and complements the outdoor natural surroundings whilst adding atmosphere.

Muutama.

One of the original Koto garden cabins is the beautifully crafted sustainable Muutama, ideal for garden living accommodation, a work space, or a holiday rental. Inspired by Nordic living, the 25m2 Muutama maximises every square inch of space, ensuring comfort and ease of use.

Open floor spaces, high ceilings and large facade openings allow for free flowing space, with a covered porch area that provides shelter and connection to the outdoors.

Home offices.

For those who continue to work from home, Koto has created two design-led prefab office cabins that serve as a place of deep work and mediation.

The inspiring small Workspace structure assumes an elegant and functional sculptural geometric form with large glazing that frames views of the garden.

The Home Office 2 is the second and larger design in the series of Koto’s work space cabins.

Inside the charming wooden sculpture, light is refracted from many angles of the structure to evoke a sense of shelter and warmth.
